One of the major problem that arises in workplace setting is the lack of physical activity and exercise that in longer time may result to non-communicable diseases such as heart diseases, diabetes, and the likes. On September of 2017, the SLRWH Physical Examination Data shows that 76 (39% - 58 Females and 18 Males) out of 197 Staff of SLRWH had an Abnormal Results which includes Hypertension (26.3%), Diabetes Mellitus Type II (25%), Dyslipidemia (14.4%) and Others (34.3%).
As a Healthcare facility that is responsible for the public’s health, we should always observe quality assurance for every services that we are rendering, but this initiative may be compromised if we healthcare providers do not take care of our health seriously.
In line with the Obesity Prevention Awareness, The SLRWH has conducted a Wellness and Healthy Lifestyle Festival last September 28, 2018 with the theme “Be ACTIVE Towards LIFESTYLE CHANGE” that promotes a lifestyle modification to be active in both physical and mental activities. The activity includes Mental Solving Problems and Zumba-Cheer Dance Competition. Also, the Wellness and Healthy Lifestyle Committee strengthen the hospital current policy on the observance of “NO SUGARY FOODS AND BEVERAGES every Monday and Wednesday and No SALTY/ JUNK FOODS every Tuesday and Thursday” for the objective of limiting the staff intake of too much sugar and salt on their daily diet.
